Gratitude Journal - 52 prompts for a whole year

(0)
Teaching Character Education? Showing gratitude has been proven to increase long-term well-being, improve health, relationships, emotions and help us bounce back from stressful experiences. With the significant increase in stress and anxiety among our young people, it is more important than ever that as teachers, we are catering to our students’ emotional needs in the classroom. This Gratitude Journal is the ideal way to help our students focus on the good aspects of their life and to appreciate their blessings – every one of us has something to be thankful for and this journal will be sure to highlight it! The journal contains 52 prompts, one for each week of the year. Each prompt is unique and encourages reflection on a wide range of life experiences, allowing for much more creativity and diversity in thinking and responses. It is not labelled by month or date so can be started at any time in the year – new starts don’t have to only begin on January 1st, and gratitude isn't just for Thanksgiving! You can let students take them home to complete as a private activity, or it can be done in school maybe at the start of the week as a Monday Morning Meeting. You will receive both a PRINTABLE and DIGITAL version to suit your needs! The digital one is ideal for opening up on Google Slides as it can be completed and looked at on any device, whenever and wherever! P.S. It’s also great for teachers too: we can all take time to have an attitude of gratitude!

It is impossible for our young people to completely avoid social media. It’s a world that most of us teachers or parents didn’t grow up with in our own youth, so it’s challenging for adults to guide students appropriately in this arena. As we know, social media has a significant effect on mental health so it’s important for students to be aware of this and develop healthy ways to use this platform, as it’s not going away any time soon. This resource will help you guide your students the right way. It has been designed to make it as easy to deliver as possible! It includes a structured PowerPoint that guides your class through discussions about social media and the effects it can have on mental health and how to have a positive experience online. No prior knowledge or experience from you is required! On top of this, the PowerPoint text is editable so you can modify the content to suit your students’ needs, should you wish. Also included are bonus graphic organizers which are supplementary to the PowerPoint: they’re not a requirement, but they work as a helpful tool for students to record their thoughts in an aesthetically pleasing way that can then be used for bulletin board displays etc. You will also find a set of discussion task cards to spark conversation and thoughts on social media: these can be printed off for each group of students, or they can be used in whole class discussion, small group, or even for 1:1 counselling. Product includes: • 31 slide PowerPoint • 3 printables of graphic organizers • 4 scenarios to analyze • 24 discussion cards Students will learn: • The true point of social media • What social media is most often used for instead • To reflect on why they use social media • Why and how social media can affect mental health • The effects of comparing themselves to people on social media • The reality of why people really post what they post [VIDEO] • The reasons people obsessing about likes and followers • Why likes and followers create false confidence • What triggers affect them on social media • Alternative ways they can respond to triggers on social media • How they can use their social media to make the world a better place • …and more! I have found teaching this unit is effective in morning meetings with tutor / advisory classes or as whole life skills lessons too, depending on how much time you can allocate. It is such a valuable topic to talk to our students about. Thank you for all you do to make a difference in young peoples’ lives! Start your day in a consistently positive and engaging way with these daily themed morning meeting digital journal 5 minute prompts, perfect for tutor / form time! There is a theme for each day of the week: • “Motivational Mondays” to start the week with a positive quote / thought / discussion. This quote is the same as the ones in the Afternoon Meeting set for continuity and deeper impact, but the prompts are different to allow for reflection on their day. • “True or False Tuesdays” to start the day with a bit of fun and engaging trivia! You can have students put their hands up for true or false and then have a short discussion (or giggle) about some of the random facts they’ll learn throughout the year. Explanations are included! These facts are different from the Afternoon Meeting set, but run along the same theme for continuity. • “Wellness Wednesdays” to focus on wellbeing, both mental and physical, that will help both themselves and demonstrate acts of kindness to others. These are either different or similar to the Afternoon Meeting set, but the prompts are different in order to encourage reflection on their day. • “Thoughtful Thursdays” to develop their thinking skills with some deep, philosophical thoughts and discussions. This can be done as a whole class or discussed in pairs or groups if preferred. These are completely different from the Afternoon Meeting set, but run along the same theme for continuity. • “Funny Fridays” to end the week on a high with a funny joke! Answers are included! These jokes are different from the Afternoon Meeting set, but run along the same theme for continuity. Product includes: • 200 slides in total • In PowerPoint form ready to use as is, or convert into Google Slides if preferred • Enough daily prompts for an entire year So start your school day on a positive note in just 5 minutes, and develop that consistency, excitement and routine that your students crave so much!
